Fanuc SPINDLE ALARM 03

Alarm SP 9003, 9003, SP0003 Spindle alarm AL-03 is generated by Fanuc SPM or Spindle Amplifier.

AL-03 Fuse on DC Link Blown(SPM is faulty)

Steps to be taken to diagnose Alarm 03:

Check if the AL-03 is coming on at spindle command.
If this alarm is displayed while the spindle is operating (rotating),
DC link fuse in the spindle amplifier is likely to have blown. Replace the spindle amplifier.
Check the following before replacing the spindle amplifier.
(a) Check that the spindle motor power lead is not grounded.
(b) Check that motor windings are not grounded.

Motor winding insulation (each phase to Ground/ motor body) should be measured AT LEAST 100 Mega Ohm.

* If the alarm AL-03 (SP9003, SP9011) are generated at the spindle STOP (M05) command, check spindle coupling, belt mechanism.

*CAUTION: High Voltage present.
Note: Some Machine's electrical cabinet doors are equipped with "door interlock" that will cause the breaker to trip when the door is open.
