SP9012 alarm on Fanuc control with Alpha i Spindle amplifiers

SP9012 OVERCURRENT POWER CIRCUIT (AL-12)

Meaning: Excessive current flow detected in the spindle amplifier.

Steps to be taken
(1) If this alarm is issued immediately after power-on, check
(a) that the control printed circuit board on the spindle amplifier is installed properly.
Replace the spindle amplifier if the problem persists.
(2) If this alarm is issued immediately after the spindle rotation is commanded,
(a) Check for a short circuit between power leads or grounding of a power lead. If there is a fault,
replace the power lead.
(b) The spindle motor has poor insulation.
Check the spindle motor insulation for grounding of motor winding. Replace/ repair the spindle motor if required.
The αiSP-B is equipped with the isolation deterioration detection function for the spindle motor.
For details, see the FANUC SERVO AMPLIFIER αi-B series DESCRIPTIONS (B-65412EN).

Spindle Motor Insulation Check

(c) Incorrect spindle motor parameters setting.
Check the spindle motor parameters (refer to the FANUC AC SPINDLE MOTOR αi/βi series PARAMETER MANUAL B-65280EN).
(d) The spindle sensor signal is abnormal.
Check the signal waveform of the spindle sensor adjust the sensor assembly or replace
the spindle sensor.
(e) The belt between the spindle and the motor may have slipped.
Alarm AL-12 may be issued due to belt slippage in the spindle motor βIic series.

More troubleshooting information can be found in FANUC SERVO AMPLIFIER αi-B series DESCRIPTIONS (B-65412EN).
